Are you thinking about a Key West Wedding? You will love it! Famous for their "island mentality", the locals of Key West definitely know how to throw a good party. Weddings are their specialty. It can be a romantic sunset wedding, a ceremony at sea or, it can be downright wacky! If you can dream it...you can do in Key West! Want an example? Schooners are a big thing in the Keys. These huge sailing vessels are a very big part of their heritage. Every year Key West hosts the Pirates in Paradise Festival. It is 10 days of absolute non-stop fun! There are pub strolls, pirate dances, pirate parties and treasure hunts. You can board the famous Schooner Wolf and take part in the re-enactment of pirate ship battles. The cannons really fire so... be prepared! If this kind of fun, fantasy and adventure appeals to you, become pirates and get married on board. The Schooner Wolf is the "Flagship of the Conch Republic" and weddings are their specialty. You can have an authentic, whacky, pirate themed wedding that will surely be remembered for ever! If you are looking for a Key West wedding that is a little more subdued, there are any number of local vendors that are more than willing to help you. That is one thing about Key West, the people are wonderful. You will feel like "part of the family" as soon as you arrive. For your honeymoon accommodations, I highly reccommend the Southernmost Point Guest House. It is right at the end of Duval Street. You are only a few steps from falling into the ocean! Mona is a wonderful host. Anything you need she is more than happy to help you with. The continental breakfast that she serves every morning is not like any continental breakfast you have ever seen! It is a full buffet of the most delicious breakfast items you could possibly imagine. The food alone is worth the stay! There is so much to see and do on this island, you will not have time for it all. Duval Street is where "it all happens". You could spend an entire day going door-to-door seeing all of the attractions just on this one street! Remember, anything goes in Key West. You are liable to see dogs dressed up in beach attire sitting on the sidewalks with their tin cups. You may run into a drag queen or two. Chickens and rabbits roam freely throughout the town and frequent the sidewalk cafes right along with you. Cats are privileged in Key West too! They earned their V.I.P. status thanks to the writer, Ernest Hemingway, who lived there for 30 years with his six-toed cats. Descendants of his cats still remain at the "Hemingway House" today! I could rave forever about Key West but you need to see it for yourself! I promise you, no water is bluer, no sand is whiter and no sunset is more beautiful than you will find right there - especially for your Key West Wedding! P.S. If you take a boat tour, don't forget to take some white cheddar popcorn with you.
The colorful tropical fish of the ocean waters are "junk food junkies" and they love white cheddar popcorn!
