What the heck is RSS or XML anyway?
Have you been wondering what the heck all those little orange "RSS" and "XML"
buttons are that you have been seeing everywhere lately? You know, the ones
you click on only to get a page full of "gibberish"?
Yup! Me too! Everyone keeps telling you to "subscribe" to this "RSS Feed" but nobody is telling
you how, much less what and RSS Feed is!
Well, it was really beginning to bug me. I kept feeling like I was missing out
on something and boy...I sure do hate that! I had to find out
what these little buttons were all about!
Well, I did finally get the scoop, and here it is for you...
It seems that these little buttons are revolutionizing the way
people get information from the Internet.
It's "the next big thing" -- you can use them to get newsfeeds from BBC or CNN, as
well as just about anything else, including news, upcoming movies, DVD releases,
your favorite sports updates AND... "What's New At Beach Wedding Themes"!
Once you get started, it's like having your favorite parts of the Web come to you.
No need to go out and check for updates all the time.
"RSS" means "Really Simple Syndication." But that is just a fancy way of saying
that you can keep up with all the updates here at Beach-Wedding-Themes.com (or
anywhere else) without having to check the site every week to see "what's new."
Whenever I put up a new page or update an old one, I release it through RSS.
Every now and then, I'll also release some of the neatest tips and ideas for beach
weddings and info on the site that you may have missed or overlooked. This way you
won't have to spend hours on the site searching for them.
Now, if you have subscribed to the Beach-Wedding-Themes.com feed, it'll be served
right onto your Desktop...quietly and unobtrusively!
RSS is so neat. No e-mail. No spam. It's so easy to subscribe and unsubscribe. And
once you start, you'll soon be tracking all your other favorite interests and news
in the world.
WARNING!
RSS feeds are highly addictive! I receive my newsfeeds on my "Yahoo" homepage. Often
I don't get the work done that I set out to do because the news feeds keep updating
with interesting tidbits that I can't ignore!
So...how do you get started?
Download free RSS Reader first (skip to bottom if you do not want to download software)
This is special software that reads the "RSS feeds" from the largest news organizations
right down to "What's New at Beach Wedding Themes"...
It turns those pages of "gibberish" into totally readable news!
Windows -- RssReader
Mac -- NetNewsWire
Once you're set up, here's all you have to do...
Right-click (control-click for Mac users) on any orange RSS button on a site,
blog or news source that interests you. Start by right-clicking on the orange button below.
Then...
Select Copy Shortcut ("Copy Link to Clipboard" for Mac), and paste that URL into your RSS Reader.
And that's it! You're subscribed.
